For over 12 years I have been involved with small non-profit organizations who genuinely need a good database but who often cannot afford the commercial alternatives or the support and consulting costs associated with those alternatives. I think that FileMaker with NorthStarDb provide one of the few database product combination that meet the price point and capability necessary for the smallest non-profit to adopt it.

FileMaker

I have been a FileMaker developer since 1999. I have worked on FileMaker based projects from ebase, to Data Management for a film distribution company, to support software for political campaigns.

NorthStarDb

In July of 2006 after over a years development the first public edition of NorthStarDb was released. NorthStarDb is a contact manager, activist, and fund raising database I designed using the latest FileMaker tools. NorthStarDb

Business Objects

Currently I do a lot of work with Business Objects reporting. For those who are not familiar with it Business Objects is a high-end reporting tool.

I have presented at numerous national conferences, taught at all levels from adult education to college level. I am a trained Total Quality Trainer and bring that perspective to my trainings. It is not just about the software. It is about how you use it to support your over all goals.

My current “day job” is at MaineHousing where I am the database administrator for the Maine HMIS system.
